Welcome.
We would like to take this opportunity to share our vision with you. While on a recent trip in South Texas to drop
off medical supplies for a Mexico Mission Trip, my husband and I wanted to stop by and visit a family friend near Big Bend
National Park.
Our visit allowed us to see, for the first time, our friend Betty's home. Her 'home' is a camping trailer
with approximately 90 sq. feet of living space. The area of Terlingua, Texas, where Betty lives has no formal
electricity nor does it have a well or other source of running water. Betty's power supply comes from auto
batteries and her water is brought in by jug fulls when she needs it. Our hearts went out to her as we viewed the home
her deceased husband began to build before he passed away with cancer one week before Christmas 2003. Lanier never
completed the construction of their home he started a few years ago.
We have begun to bless this widow according to I Corinthians 5:5 that says a widow who is really in need and left
all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help. We are the vessels of help.
Our vision includes laborers and those who would financially support this endeavor.
Our hope is to assist others like Betty as well. We call this the Widow's Mite Project based upon the scripture
found in Mark 12:42-44 ,
'But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples
to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They
all gave out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty, put in everything-all she had to live on."
The calculated cost to finish construction on her 800 sq. ft. home is approximately $10,000. This calculates out
to about $12.50 per sq. ft. This home will include a 400 sq. ft. living space (perfect for home bible studies and prayer
meetings), a 150 sq ft. bedroom, a 150 sq ft. kitchen, a 50 sq ft. bathroom & a 50 sq. ft. storage closet. There
will be a septic tank and a 500 gallon fresh water tank added to the home so no more need to bring in gallon
jugs of water.
Please pray and ask God what part in the Widow's Mite Project you are to play. Perhaps you would want to sponser
5, 10, 50 square feet of this home. Perhaps you want to make a flat donation of $5, $10, $500 or $1,000. Whatever
your donation, we ask you to pray and seek the Lord, then be an obedient servant of what God has intrusted you with.
